Girls Drop A Thriller To Oakwood

POUGHKEEPSIE – The Faith Christian Academy girls basketball team lost a thriller in overtime to Oakwood Friends School on Wednesday, 40-38, in a Hudson Valley Athletic League game.

FCA is now 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the league.

Sophomore Jessica DeCarmine led FCA with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists. Beth Nash had a huge game with eight points and 19 boards, while senior Emily Santiago barely missed a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.

Oakwood Friends was led Shai Black Bird with 15 points.

Coach Brianna DeCarmine was pleased with the team’s comeback that knotted the game at 33-33 at the end of regulation.

“We needed to hit a few more foul shots but I am very pleased with how the team came back in regular time and in overtime,” she said. “The team has improved so much from last year. This is a team that won one game in the league last year. This year we are 2-2 in the league and have been in every game we have played to the very end.”
