Drews Nets 14 In Victory Over Storm King

POUGHKEEPSIE – Freshman Destiny Drews led all scorers with 14 points as the Faith Christian Academy girls basketball team beat Storm King School, 35-22, on Friday afternoon.

FCA is now 4-1 overall, the best start in the program’s eight-year history.

Drews also had five steals and three rebounds.

Sophomore Jessica DeCarmine scored 11 points and added seven rebounds despite being the shortest player on the court.  Beth Nash scored two points but had 11 rebounds and a steal. Freshman Sierra Knauf came off the bench and scored three points and pulled down seven rebounds, and fellow frosh Daniella DeLeon scored three points and had four rebounds.

Storm King was led by Garza Marcela, who scored nine points and had two rebounds.

Falcons coaches Briana DeCarmine and Melanie Nash (both former FCA players) were pleased with the outcome.

“We are very proud of our girls. We were missing our two upper classmen today,” DeCarmine said. “Our girls stayed tough in there and rebounded and kept pushing against a bigger, older team. The team passed well and will pass even better in games to come.”
