Roundup: Pine Plains football wins finale

 

Matt Beam was 3 for 4 for 101 yards with two touchdown passes as visiting Pine Plains ended their season with a 20-13 win at Roscoe High School on Saturday.

Beam threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to Dylan Lawless and a 20-yard pass to Zack Matthews. Hunter Parks (22 carries, 126 yards) scored on a 10-yard run. Aidan Kiernan had an interception for Pine Plains (3-6).

“I’m very satisfied with the effort the kids have given and extremely satisfied with the coaching staff,” Pine Plains coach Rob Scott said.

Pawling 42, Yonkers 0 - Alex Alcera, Billy Pizzolongo, Matt Kuhlmann and David Bellucci each scored a running touchdown and Paul Bellucci caught a touchdown pass for Pawling (4-1).

North Rockland 21, John Jay 20 – Danny Diedrich scored on a 2-yard run, Dylan Burnett scored on a 4-yard run and Jai’von Reynolds scored on a 40-yard reception from Richie Eleto, but the visiting Patriots (6-3) closed their season in defeat.

“Our last offensive drive, we did a great job and put together a nice drive,” John Jay coach Tom O’Hare said. “Defensively, we played a tough game with a lot of guys having to play new or different positions this week. Overall, I’m super proud of the team’s effort. Our team was young and we had to use a lot of those young guys. I’m proud of the effort and our composure and the way we carried ourselves.”

Highland 55, Dover 33 – Mike Malheiro ran for 80 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead host Highland late Friday. Isaiah Daubon rushed for over 100 yards and two touchdowns, and Frank Alfonso ran for 130 yards and a score for the Huskies (3-6). Cody Weaver scored a 60-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Jaquon Futrell scored four touchdowns, including a 65-yard kickoff return as time expired in the fourth quarter for Dover (3-6).

Girls tennis

Marlboro’s Emma and Grace Messenger lost to Half Hollow Hills East’s Ariana Malik and Lauren Cherkin 1-6, 6-0, 6-4 at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships Saturday at Sound Shore Tennis Club in Port Chester.

Volleyball

Michaela Sciacca had 27 assists and an ace to lead No. 8 Arlington in a 25-19, 17-25, 19-25, 25-21, 25-17 win over No. 9 Suffern in the first round of the Section 1 Class AA playoffs late Friday in Freedom Plains.

Grace Torino added seven kills and 16 digs, Tatum Pittman had nine blocks and five kills, Zarissa Wheeler had nine digs, six kills and four blocks, and Kirsten Econom had 13 digs and three aces for Arlington (10-7).

The Admirals visits No. 1 Ossining in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. Monday.

Yorktown 3, Beacon 0 — Lauren Schetter had 18 digs and 11 kills, Jummie Akinuinmi had 14 service points and Sydney Dexter added 11 assists in the loss as No. 12 Beacon fell to No. 5 Yorktown, 25-16,25-16, 25-21, in the first round of the Section 1 Class A playoffs late Friday.

Home School Team 3, Faith Christian Academy 2 — Eshaa Munder had 14 service points and 12 kills for host FCA in a 25-23, 21-25, 19-25, 25-18, 11-15 loss late Friday. The Falcons are 8-3.

Boys soccer

Dalton Lois had four goals as visiting Faith Christian Academy defeated New York Military Academy 6-2.

Andrew Cruz and Tucker Lin also scored for FCA (6-8-1). Cruz (six saves) and Tyler Salvato (six saves) split time in goal for the Falcons.
