Soccer roundup: Poughkeepsie clinches playoffs with win

 

Jason Augustine scored on an assist from Jaden Antonio as visiting Poughkeepsie High School's boys soccer team clinched a berth in the Section 9 Class A tournament with a 1-0 shutout of Red Hook on Friday.

Jose Martinez made nine saves for Poughkeepsie (6-5). Francisco Fernandez-Puyol made three saves for Red Hook.

Spackenkill 4, Millbrook 2 – Travis Klipp scored twice as the visiting Spartans beat the Blazers.

Anirudh Bhimavarapu and Kalen McGinley also scored for Spackenkill (11-1).

Alex Censi had two goals for Millbrook (5-7).

Franklin D. Roosevelt 3, Marlboro 1 – Ethan Hart scored twice as the host Presidents beat the Iron Dukes in Hyde Park.

Myles Manning also scored for Roosevelt. Ryan Asch scored for Marlboro.

Faith Christian Academy 6, Harmony Christian 0 – Dalton Lois had a hat trick and Manny Cabral scored twice as the visiting Falcons (5-6-1) won in Circleville.

Isaac Sabrado scored and Andrew Cruz made 12 saves for FCA.

Arlington 3, John Jay 2 – Tristan Battistoni scored the game-winning goal on an overtime penalty kick in the 92nd minute as the visiting Admirals beat the Patriots late Thursday.

Battistoni also scored on a penalty kick in the first half. Nick Dunn also scored for Arlington (8-5, 6-0). For John Jay (5-6-1, 2-4), George Krajeski scored his first varsity goal. John Jay’s other tally was on an Arlington own goal.

Jimmy Martin made five saves for Arlington. Jack Yeager made two saves for John Jay.

Our Lady of Lourdes 2, Sleepy Hollow 0 – Dillon Rispoli and Cleveland Lewis scored for the host Warriors, who won by shutout late Thursday.

Brayton Clerke made eight saves.

Girls soccer

Rossella Graniero scored twice, including the overtime winner and Lizzy Sabatelle also scored as host Roy C. Ketcham beat Arlington B 3-2.

Devon Schmitt and Casey Granger scored for Arlington B.

Arlington 3, John Jay 1 – Taylor James scored twice as the visiting Admirals defeated the Patriots late Thursday in Wiccopee late Thursday.

Sofia Germano also scored for Arlington. Molly Feighan added two assists.

Danielle Angyal scored for John Jay.

Highland 4, Saugerties 3 – Brooke Harris scored her second goal of the game on a penalty kick in overtime as the host Huskies (3-10) won late Thursday.

Mia Beck and Teresa Mazzella also scored for Highland. Brianna Rozzi and Amanda Darmochwal split time in goal for the Huskies, each making four saves.

Marlboro 6, Roosevelt 2 – Hannah Sullivan had three goals and an assist as the visiting Iron Dukes beat the Presidents late Thursday.

Carolyn Ludwigson, Elizabeth Lofaro and Joyce Ryder also scored for Marlboro. Sydney Currier and Kristen Phillips scored for Roosevelt.
