Roy_Bio_Pic Roy Arnesen - Athletic Director

Roy Arnesen became Athletic Director of Faith Christian Academy in 2014 bringing with him over thirty five years of experience in the areas of Physical Education, Adaptive Physical Education and Administration at both the high school and college levels.

Twenty nine of those years were within the Somers Central School District where his Cross Country and Track and Field teams won 24 league titles, four county titles, 17 sectional titles and were New York State Cross Champions in 2004 and State Runner-Ups in 2005. Twenty five of his track and field trainees have become high school All-Americans.

While building the Somers Track & Cross Country Program, Roy also doubled for six years as coach of the Somers High School Girls Tennis team.

Roy’s achievements, popularity with students and commitment to carefully designed instructional programs for those struggling with physical and cognitive disabilities were recognized upon his retirement when the Somers School District inducted Roy into the Somers Educational Foundation Hall of Fame and honored him with the unveiling of “The Roy Arnesen Track”.

In addition to his work within the school district, Roy also was responsible for establishing the Town of Somers Special Olympic & the Taconic Road Runners Summer Youth Track and Field programs.

During his summer breaks he worked at BOCES teaching special education to autistic children.

Roy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from The King's College and his Master’s in Special Education from the College of New Rochelle.

Roy says coming to FCA after so many great years at Somers is in many ways the fulfillment of a dream. That is to teach in an environment that is associated with the church he and his family have attended for thirty years and one that allows him to honor God while at the same time helping his students find a  deeper relationship with the Lord.
