Welcome Message
Welcome to 1st Grade! I am glad to have a new bunch of faces grace the classroom, although I will miss last year’s shining faces!
The first day of school your child will come home with our Special schedule and my personal email address as it works easier than the one attached to this website. Feel free to contact me about anything…..there is nothing too small! We are a team to help your child be the best he/she can be so open communication is extremely important! I am free to meet you after school as well.
1st grade is a magical year where so many wonderful worlds open up for your child. I feel privileged to watch this process! This year your child will enjoy having a place of their own for their belongings: a desk and chair. Their school supplies and books stay in their desks. We will be working on organizational skills this year so they know where to find their belongings.
Every morning we will have a morning snack. I prefer a healthy snack: fruit, veggies, yogurt, cheese and crackers, pudding, trail mix, granola bar, just to name a few suggestions. If your child has a birthday, we will celebrate it in the classroom. Children love their special day, so feel free to send in a snack to share with the rest of the class.
Every night there will be homework, including the first day of school! This is a great time to begin great study habits! Homework is expected to be returned the next day. It will not take your child long to complete it…….no more than 10 minutes. It will increase as we add math facts and spelling packets, but that will be eased into so no need to worry! Almost all homework will be math and will be on the back side of the paper we complete together in class. There will be no new concepts.
Looking forward to a great year!
Blessings,
Cindy Beverley
