What do I do at PICK UP TIME?
The first 3 days of school are half days. The children will be getting
ready to go home from 11:30–11:45. On full days, the children will be ready
to go home at 3:10. The procedure for dismissal is as follows:
•Please drive your car around to the back of the church to the
overhang by the doors.
•Wait in your car.
•When you pull through, the teachers will call your child and put
them in your car.
•Please let me know via note or in person if your child will be picked
up by someone else on any given day.
--------------------------------------
What’s the procedure for picking my child up early?
If you have to pick your child up early, please go to the school office and
sign your child out. The office staff will inform me that you are there,
and I will prepare your child and send them out to you.
--------------------------------------
How can I reach you?
I can be reached by phone at the school at 462-0266, via the school's website
or directly by email at agarcia@faithchristianacademy.org; a note in your child’s folder
will also work.
--------------------------------------
What time is lunch?
Lunch is from 12:30-1:15. The children will be resting after lunch, and they
may bring a small pillow to rest their heads on during rest time. The pillow
should be placed in a plastic/ziploc bag and will be sent home periodically
to be washed.
--------------------------------------
What volunteer opportunities are there in the Pre-K class?
During the year there may be times when we need assistance, and I will send
home a form requesting help. The immediate need for help is during lunch
time, when Mrs. Fonts assists the children while they eat and prepare to go
outside for recess. If you indicated that you could help on the
registration form, Mrs. Fonts will be contacting you.
--------------------------------------
What days are gym class and what should the children wear?
Gym days are Tuesday and Wednesday. On gym days children must wear a gym uniform (can be purchased in the school
office) OR shorts, sweatpants, sweatshirt, T-shirt, and sneakers.
--------------------------------------
What day is chapel and what should the children wear?
Chapel is every Thursday morning at 10:00. This is a special time in our school,
and the children should dress in "church" clothes. The boys should wear shirt and
tie and the girls would look great in skirts or dresses!
--------------------------------------
How often do the children attend library?
They will visit the school library one day a week, and the children will be
able to borrow a book each week. Upon return of the book, the children may
borrow another.
--------------------------------------
What type of food should I send in for snack?
Children will have a snack time every day at approximately 10:00—including
the first 3 days. Please send a healthy snack for your child in addition to
their lunch (beginning the following week). Fruits and vegetables with
peanut butter or dip, pretzels, cheese and crackers, and other healthy
snacks help give your child the right kind of energy and “brain power” they
need for a long day at school. A lunch menu and information about buying
lunches will be sent home the first week of school.
--------------------------------------
What happens if my child has a bathroom accident at school?
We have some extra clothes at school, but most children feel most
comfortable in their own clothes. If this situation is a concern, or if you
feel more comfortable having an extra set of your child's clothes at school,
please feel free to send in (for example) a pair of sweats, a pair of
underwear and a pair of socks. Please label all clothing with your child's
name.
--------------------------------------
How will I be informed if my child is having a problem at school?
Over the years I have had parents who worry that their child will not behave
in class. I have learned that there are certain behaviors that children
reserve solely for parents! If an issue does arise, however, my goal is to
take care of problems that occur in the classroom as quickly as I can. I
will contact you via phone or note if I need your assistance. I find that a
lot of times issues can be resolved with the children. This gives them a
sense of responsibility and accomplishment. I let the children know,
however, that if we can't work it out in the classroom, I will be asking for
parents' help. I don't want to burden parents with day-to-day issues that
can be handled in school. At the same time, however, I don't want you to
think I am keeping things from you. I will not surprise you, for example,
in a conference, with an issue that I have not discussed with you at a prior
time.

What is a typical week in Pre-K like?
A typical week includes the following activities either on a daily or weekly
basis:
free play time – children are free to play with a variety of games, table
toys, puzzles, etc.
clean up time – the class works together to place everything where it belongs
morning and end of day meeting - we discuss the weather, time of year, day of week,
wrap up the day, discuss future events, etc; we will also read books at this time
and "catch up" with one another.
centers - the children will participate in rotating activities during this time;
i.e., play dough, cutting, handwriting skills, memory games, blocks, etc.
snack time – we spend about 20 minutes enjoying our snacks and chatting with
our fellow table friends
bible story and bible memory verse- every week we will share a bible story
and memorize a new verse
crafts – the children will cut, glue, paint, color on a weekly basis; many
of these crafts will go home on the day they are completed and others will
be displayed in class
lunch time/recess/rest time – as long as weather permits, recess will
take place outdoors
specials – gym, library, computer or music
I will recap the week on the website so that you don’t miss anything!
