Frequently Asked Questions

How can I help my child become a better reader?

Read! Read! Read! Read to them. Have them read to you. Read alternating
pages. Choose specific words that they, and only they read while you read
the rest. Go to the library and have your child get their very own library
card.
How can I help my child practice counting money?
.Every night take the change out of your pocket or wallet and have them count
what is inside. It is difficult transitioning from dimes to nickels, or to
pennies. But practice makes perfect!

My child writes some numbers and letters backwards.
Should I be concerned?

Relax! It is perfectly normal for children in 1st grade to write numbers and
letters backwards. We don't worry about this in 1st grade. We do make a note
and monitor it, though!
