About Our Class

My name is Mrs. Marianne Behr, and I have been teaching at FCA for almost twenty-five years.  My many years here at FCA have been such a BLESSING, and a total joy.  This is not my job, it is a ministry that God has allowed me to be a part of.  Words cannot express the gratitude I have, for the experiences God has brought me through while teaching at FCA.     Our fourth grade classroom is always busy; from learning long passages
of Scripture, 1st Corinthians 13:1-13, and Matthew 5:1-16, to fun projects such as dehydrating fruit.  The students use the fruit for a special
Thanksgiving gift to their parents.  What fun this is!  In December we visit one of the local nursing homes to sing Christmas carols and to hand out home baked cookies.  The month of February brings our 1st Corinthians 13 Valentine party, with lots of games, crafts, and goodies to eat.
The highlight of the year is our Colonial Fair, where we transform half of the scool gym into a colonial village.  Each students chooses an area of
study, such as the Potter, Blacksmith, Teacher, etc., and sets a type of storefront and demonstration up for visitors to interact with them in
learning about their job.  This is a once in a lifetime learning experience for the students.  We have been in years past on our local TV station, as
well as in the newspaper.
The end of the year brings our International Lunch, which family and friends are invited to share an ethnic dish of their culture.  There is so much more happening each month, but these are just a few of the highlights of our class.  Our academics are strong and we encourage each student to do the best with the talents and abilities God has given to them.
It is a BLESSING to be a part of FCA, and I am truly thankful that I have the opportunity to be serve on this staff.

Homework Policy

Please remember that Monday through Thursday you will have homework. The weekends will be a time to spend with your family and plan out
activities that you can all do together.  Monday mornings we like to spend a few minutes sharing with one another some of the fun things we did over our weekend.       Each evening you will be writing five spelling words ten times each, as well as each of those five new words in a sentence one time.  Your weekly Bible verse will be written two times each night and that can be written on the back of your spelling homework.  There will be a problem set of about thirty math problems each evening, this is to reinforce the concepts we learned that day.  Along with these subjects, there will always be at least one other subject with a short assignment.  For the most part, homework should take about an hour each evening.  There will be occasions when I will let the students begin their homework in class.  If we have accomplished the work for the day,
I will sometimes give a study hall the last ten minutes of the day.
Students are expected to come prepared each day with their homework.  If something should come up at home and the student has not been able to complete their homework, a note should be sent in that morning.  If a note is not sent in then the student must take a quiet snack and work on the incomplete homework, otherwise the missed work can be sent in the next day.
There will be a spelling test each Friday and Bible memory quiz.  There will be at least one Math quiz each week.  Tests will be given in all subjects and  at least a three day notice will be given before any test.  Homework will be written on the board each morning.  It is the students responsibility to make sure their assignment is copied before lunch.    Each student is required to have a FCA homework folder.  It is very important that parents look inside those folders every night.  Important notes will come home, as well as any graded papers that need to be corrected and signed and returned to me.  Please realize that this is a very important way in which we can communicate with each other.  Please send all notes that you may want me to see, in this folder.  If you have any questions, always feel free to call me at school.
